It sounds just like a cellphone mic!
For it's price, people will say that it's worth the cost. But think about it. Another 25-30 dollars and you can get a whole lost better audio quality than this. Don't make the mistake of buying this for it's portability.

I recommend this item for those people like me that do not want to spend the big bucks on high end speakers but want the option to use head phones or not. This swing speaker is easy to install and use. The compact design can fit anywhere, even in your big pockets. It has an earphone socket if you want to use that one too.

I use the headphones on my iPod Nano 4th Generation when I workout or when I commute on public transit, but I use the swing speaker at home when I do chores.

If that is how you use your Nano 4G, I recommend you get this swing speaker.

Do not expect high end sound quality with this swing speaker. If that is your desire, look elsewhere.

I was basically looking for external speakers with extra battery life to use mainly for playing games that I downloaded from iTunes. Being able to keep the speakers in a parallel position to the Nano makes it perfect for playing games and very comfortable to hold. The speakers have good sound quality for their size, and the portability makes the unit great for travel. The only real negatives are the fact that there is no protection for the screen or scroll wheel, and there is no volume control. Other than that, it's an excellent product! One very positive thing I discovered is that if you don't have access to a computer to charge the unit, i.e., you want to take it on vacation, you can charge it using a USB wall charger. The one I bought is Griffin PowerBlock AC Wall Charger for iPod, iPhone 1G, and Other USB Devices (White). It will charge both the speakers and the Nano using the separate USB cables that come with each item, but since the charger only has 1 USB port, they have to be charged separately. Product does what it is supposed to do - allows you to hear the music on your ipod. These are very small speakers, so it won't blow you out of your room. I keep it on my desk within arm's length and it takes up a minimal amount of space. I have not tried using it in a car, but I would think that road noise might make it hard to hear. While this product lacks on low-end sound, it makes up for it in value and functionality. I use this on my desk at work and it is perfect. I have gotten many compliments and would recommend it to any one with this gen nano! -- Great for the office!
